GDB takes the environment very seriously. We are based in Greater Sudbury, a community world-renowned and United Nations recognized for environmental reclamation – something we take great pride in and try to emulate in our operations.
Our first goal of Project Environmental Planning is to prevent the disturbance of areas of significant ecological value or sensitivity. Where project tasks require accessing these areas, GDB’s planning is developed to provide controlled measures/barriers to minimize environmental risk and disturbances.
As well, project equipment is selected and dispatched in a manner to ensure the construction task may be advanced in a manner that provides controlled and monitored access to work areas, and protection of any neighboring sensitive areas. Our construction equipment is inspected and maintained on a continuous basis. Site inspection reports are maintained diligently in project records.
Finally, it is our policy to monitor all work sites to ensure all reasonable efforts are taken and maintained to protect the environment. This includes but is not limited to erosion and sediment control efforts, protection of watercourses and native vegetation, and protection of wildlife. In all cases, existing earth and vegetation is to be removed only if absolutely necessary for construction operations.
